If you’ve collected GST or PST then the government expects you to file your paperwork on time and send them their money. Initially, it is quite easy to ignore these government debts because it takes a while for the government to realize you aren’t playing by the rules, but eventually they will catch up with you and then things can get rough. The government may freeze your bank account, contact your creditors – they may even put a lien on your house.
